As it turns out, I do know the way to Santa Fe.
Miles: 785 (!)
Interstates/roads: 20, 35, US Hwy 287 (which isn’t an interstate, but might as well be), 44, 40, 27 (not by choice — for some reason 40 was closed through Amarillo. There’s really nothing like being waved off the interstate in a city you’ve never even seen before), US 285, 25
States: Texas, Texas, Texas, Texas, New Mexico
Soundtrack: Bekah, Amy (first cd, word), Erik, Sully (punch-drunk travel madness), Andy (roadtrip megamix #1), Sarah/sis (twilight to starlight)
Moment of Zen: In the middle of nowhere on US Hwy 287 in northwestern Texas, there are the nicest rest areas ever. In addition to snakes, they have information kiosks (about the middle of nowhere) and… wait for it… high-speed internet access. And yes, before you ask, I did want to log on and post from there, but my laptop battery was very low and it died before I could connect (and I didn’t feel like fooling around with the power cord). Boo.
Bonus zen: Read my lips. No new tolls.

If you liked Megamix #1, wait until CD #2 with the screaming weasel and nose flute orchestra. Am I joking or not? Hard to tell, isn’t it….

Yay! The CDs did make it in time! I was worried.
You may shoot me for the contents of the second CD, though…

Hopefully there were no “Beware of snakes” signs in the bathrooms…

ARGH! I can’t believe I wasn’t able to get in touch with you in time for you to enjoy the wonderful sites of Lubbock!
Believe it or not… our internet was DEAD for many days and trusty ol’ PSU mail was on the fritz. I hope you liked the TX CD, particularly the song “Amarillo by Morning” (did that happen by the way?)
HUGS!
